Colour Perception and Emotion Data Visualistion and Research Project
The earliest work on show in my portfolio is a project I worked on whilst studying at Sheffield Hallam University.
The brief was simply to visualise data, and so this infographic was the start of a deep research project into the human connections of emotion and colour, showing survey results of data I collected of the correlation people have between their emotions and associated colours.

On the left are a list of emotions to the right of each one is a row of squares. The bigger the square, the more that colour is associated with the emotion.
Red shows to be the colour the most strongly associated with one emotion, that being anger. Happiness can be seen as the emotion with the most even mix of colours, and purple the colour with the highest variety of associated emotions.

The simple forms of the coloured squares set on a black background is pared back to a point of abstraction on first impression, a style which matches the conceptual nature of the project.
This works remains as a personal project to me as it was a defining moment in the direction of my own creative style.
